Unit Assessment Materials

These unit-level assessment materials are designed to be used after completing all Investigations. The final Unit Assessment evaluates cumulative understanding, the Answer Key supports efficient grading, and the Content Alignment Guide shows where each exam question was taught during the Unit. PDFs open in a new window for easy viewing, downloading, and printing.

Clarity Framework Tools

These tools help students slow down, separate explanation from interpretation, and think carefully. The 🔎 icon marks moments in the instructional flow where a Clarity Tool may support deeper thinking. Explore the full framework below.

INVESTIGATIONS

Investigation 1: Mitosis and Human Chromosomes

In this Investigation, students learn how to analyze human karyotypes and explore the genetic foundations of prenatal development.

Investigation 2: Meiosis and Gamete Formation

In this Investigation, students examine how meiosis produces human gametes and explore how fertilization restores chromosome number to initiate human development.

Investigation 3: Maternal–Fetal Interactions

In this Investigation, students study maternal–fetal circulation and examine how nutrients, gases, and waste products are exchanged to support prenatal growth.

Investigation 4: Preparing for Birth - Late Fetal Development

In this Investigation, students explore the prenatal environment during late fetal development and examine how factors such as amniotic fluid, space constraints, and ongoing maternal support prepare the developing human for birth.
